Why we love this cruise line
Oceania Cruises has only been in operation since 2002, yet it has gained an outstanding reputation as one of the world’s premier luxury lines and has become the world’s largest upper premium cruise line. All the ships offer casually luxurious experience like no other, with outstanding personalised service, lavishly furnished interiors, handsomely decorated guest rooms and amenities of the highest calibre.
You can enjoy fine dining in the Grand Dining Room, delicious Italian cuisine at Toscana and succulent steaks at the Polo Grill. Sample a range of Martinis at the aptly named Martinis and sip on cocktails at the Horizons bar while appreciating beautiful panoramic views. Oceania has even partnered with award-winning Canyon Ranch to bring their world-class spas onboard. You will also find world-class entertainment, including live stage shows, talks about destinations on your itinerary, and showings of feature movies. The Marina and Riviera also have unique hands-on classes in cooking and art, designed to get you cooking gourmet meals and creating your own works of art.
What we love most about Oceania is the overall emphasis on guest comfort and satisfaction. Oceania prides itself on the overall guest experience, striving to create great experiences both on and off the ships. It is the leader in destination cruising, with over 330 ports of call all across the globe. Itineraries combine popular must-see sights with destinations that are more off-the-beaten-track; guests can enjoy places they were looking forward to and places they didn’t know existed. Ships very often call at a place for more than one night, giving guests even more opportunities to discover everything that the destinations have to offer.
Oceania goes a step further than other cruise lines as it provides everyone with the opportunity to enjoy luxury cruising at affordable rates, encouraging everyone to see and learn more about the world.
Every Oceania ship has a wide range of activities so you will always have something new to do. During the day you can enjoy a soak in a Jacuzzi, have a leisurely swim in the large outdoor pool, which for your convenience is heated when the ship is in colder climates, or simply spend the day sunbathing on the Sun Deck.
Head to the library to find a wealth of books of all different kinds, from thrillers and classic novels to poetry collections and reference guides. You are bound to find a good book or two to get stuck into during your cruise. In the card room you can enjoy many relaxing card games with acquaintances old and new. When it comes to keeping in touch with those back home, you can head to the Internet café and share memories of your experiences and keep up to date with the latest goings on. At the boutiques you can find the perfect gift for a loved one or some souvenirs for yourself, whether it be the latest fragrances, designer clothes or Oceania logo merchandise.
Those on the Marina or the Riviera can learn how to create gourmet meals in the Bon Appetit Culinary Center under the guidance of expert chefs with a unique hands-on approach and can show off their artistic flair in the Artist Loft and create your very own work of art. On all ships drinks connoisseurs can attend Martini and wine tasting sessions to sample a range of these drinks and learn more about their creation.
Bars & Clubs
There is a great selection of bars onboard every Oceania ship. As you sip on tasty drinks, you’ll be able to appreciate that each bar has been meticulously designed and handsomely decorated, resulting in the most comfortable and stylish drinking venues at sea.
At Horizons you can enjoy cocktails and other specialty drinks while gazing out of the floor-to ceiling windows for amazing views of the destination you’re in. As its name would suggest, Martinis is where you can enjoy a wide range of Martinis; this bar is stylishly themed to a gentleman’s club and has live piano music for you to listen to while you sip on a variety of drinks. The specialty drinks at the Polo Bar include single-malt Scotch and full-grain Whiskeys, whilst over at the Grand Bar, you can choose from a selection of vintage and contemporary drinks before heading off to your evening meal.
If you’re in the casino and fancy a drink or two to steady the nerves, or have won big and want to celebrate, simply head to the Casino Bar, which has many enticing cocktails and other drinks on offer. During the day you can grab a drink at the Waves Bar to enjoy while you soak up the sun. Note that the line-up of bars varies from ship to ship.
Dining onboard each and every Oceania ship is an unforgettable experience like no other. The Executive Culinary Director is none other than world-renowned master chef Jacques Pepin, and under his guidance, chefs in all of the restaurants on all ships continuously strive to create the most delicious and enticing cuisine possible. He has also helped to create the menus, blending traditional classics with regional delicacies.
Each restaurant has an open-seating policy, meaning you choose when you dine, where you dine and who with. This means the choice is entirely yours: you can sit at a large table with new friends or have a more intimate experience at a table for two. The restaurants themselves are distinctly different yet one thing they all have in common is the consistently high quality of everything from the impeccable personal service and the classy décor to the food itself.
At the Polo Grill you can enjoy succulent steaks while admiring the Art Deco theming, whilst at Toscana gourmet Italian cuisine is on the menu. For al fresco dining, head to the Terrace Café with its expansive buffet or the Waves Grill, where you can grab a snack or two while lounging by the pool.
On the Marina and Riviera ships, you can enjoy exclusive fine dining experiences of the highest quality at the Privee and La Reserve. Privee is a private venue room that can hold a party of up to ten while La Reserve holds 24 and offers a seven-course gourmet dinner accompanied by seven different wines. Each experience comes with an additional cost. For French cuisine, head to Jacques, which resembles a classic Parisian bistro, while those longing for Asian food need only head to Red Ginger, which features large Buddha statues cared out of a single piece of glass.
Onboard entertainment is different from night to night, so there is always something new to see. The ship’s main lounge is where evening entertainment shows take place; one night you could find yourself watching a magician bedazzle the audience with his tricks, while on another night you could end up laughing along with the comedian. Those who appreciate fine music can enjoy jazz ensembles and classical orchestras, while those who want to be on stage themselves can take part in the Oceania Idol karaoke contest.
Health & Fitness
All Oceania ships have an abundance of health and fitness programmes and facilities designed to make you feel rejuvenated and keep you in shape. Oceania has teamed up with award-winning Canyon Ranch, which has steadily been building up an outstanding reputation for the past 30 years thanks to its high-quality family-oriented health resorts, wellness communities and hotels, to bring you the best spa services at sea. The Canyon Ranch SpaClub has an enticing array of treatments on offer, from body wraps and acupuncture sessions to steam rooms and whirlpool spas. You are invited to indulge yourself with whatever you should want and no matter what you have done, you are guaranteed to leave feeling completely relaxed and reinvigorated.
Over at the hair salon, the beauty specialists strive to get you looking your best for every occasion, with treatments on offer for both men and women. You can have special make-up consultations during which you can learn how to create new looks for yourself. You can also have manicures, pedicures, treat yourself to a new hairstyle and even add some highlights to your hair to make yourself stand out. Men can enjoy a beard and moustache trim and get a handsome new haircut.
When it comes to exercise, there are many different options for you to consider. You could have a one-to-one session with a personal trainer, have a personalised fitness assessment or join one of the many specially tailored fitness classes, including yoga, cycling and aerobics. The fitness experts on board work closely with you to create the perfect exercise programme for you, whether you exercise frequently or have just taken it up. If you fancy al fresco exercise, you can simply walk or jog around the outdoor oval track on one of the upper decks.
