Why we love this cruise line

Premier luxury cruise line offering exciting and adventurous voyages on intimate yet spacious ships.

In order to purchase and consume alcohol onboard, guests must be at least 21 years of age. Silversea reserves the right not to serve alcohol to anyone thought to be under the influence or a threat to the health and safety of other passengers and Silversea employees.

Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or supervising guardian over the age of 21 staying in the same or a connecting suite. If the adult accompanying the child is not their parent, a parental consent guardianship form needs to be signed by a parent or guardian and presented to Silversea prior to sailing. Silversea ships do not provide any entertainment programmes, care facilities or supervision services for children.

Silversea recommends that all guests wear casual resort wear during the day both on the ship and ashore.  This dress code simply consists of sports outfits typically worn in resorts, with flat or low-heeled shoes. During the evening, there are three different dress codes: informal, formal and casual. The following items of clothing are appropriate for casual evenings: slacks, sports outfits and open-neck shirts. On informal evenings, it is recommended that men wear jackets, with the tie optional, while women should wear trouser suits or dresses. For formal evenings, men should wear dinner jackets, dark suits or tuxedos while women should wear cocktail dresses or evening gowns.

Additionally on formal nights, those who dine in La Terrazza may choose to wear casually elegant attire, which consists of jackets with the tie optional for men and dresses or trouser suits for women. After dinner, public spaces are open for entertainment, cocktails and post-dinner drinks.

The number of casual, informal and formal nights depends on the length of the cruise. The chart below is a standard guide, though please note that this is subject to change and full details will be provided in your cruise documents.

It is also recommended that you bring a pair of comfortable and sturdy walking shoes for land-based activities and shoreside explorations. You should have extra layers of clothing ready for different climates. For excursions that visit religious sites such as churches and mosques, note that appropriate attire must be worn; those wearing shorts, skirts above the knee or women with bare shoulders run the risk of not being allowed in such sites. Ensure you double check with the Tour Desk prior to departing for tours.

Infants must be at least six months of age by the first day of the cruise in order to be allowed to sail. Silversea requires that prior notification in the form of a signed waiver must be given about all infants coming on board that are between the ages of 6 months and one year. Silversea may also restrict the number of children under the age of 3 on its cruises.

Note that all children must be at least one year of age in order to sail on the Silver Explorer. Children must be at least 6 years of age in order to board a Zodiac. An adult guardian or parent needs to remain with any children under 6 during Zodiac excursions as there are no childcare services on board. This ship does not supply rollaway beds or cribs, nor does it supply rubber boots in children’s sizes.

Silversea will not accept pregnant women who have entered their 24th week of pregnancy. Expectant mothers are expected to supply Silversea Cruises with a medical certificate at the time of booking confirming that they will be fit enough to travel at the time of the cruise. Silversea will not be held responsible or accountable for any complications whatsoever incurred throughout the cruise or after the end of the cruise. Please note that airlines may have different policies on pregnancy so make sure you are fully aware of them prior to travelling.

Smoking is expressly forbidden in all staterooms, stateroom verandas and most public areas. Smoking pipes, cigars and cigarettes is, however, permitted only in designated areas.  These include the Connoisseur’s Corner, as well as special outdoor seating areas in the Panorama Lounge, the Pool Bar and certain parts of the outdoor decks. There is also an outdoor smoking area outside La Terrazza, however, only cigarette smoking is permitted there.

All onboard gratuities are covered in your cruise fare. Silversea staff will never expect gratuities.

Wi-Fi is available in all guest rooms and at a number of hotspots located throughout each ship. You can also find computers with Internet access in the Internet Café. Please note that Internet access might not be available at all times due to the difficulty of maintaining satellite connections while at sea. Internet service is very often disrupted in the Arctic. For the entire duration of all cruises to and from Svalbard, there will be no Internet service available to guests, though it will be accessible in the case of an emergency.

There is a charge for using the Internet, which is the same no matter where on the ship you use it. All charges incurred are added to your onboard account.  The rates are in US Dollars and are as follows:

Time Plan 1: 100 minutes for $45.00, a rate of $0.45 per minute
